WALKS THAT BRING THE CITY TO LIFE
Kelham Island Walks brings Sheffield’s history to life. These two hour walks take you from the origins of the island when it was set amongst fields, through its industrial development and a time when the city was an industrial powerhouse, and on to how it’s changed in to the community it is now.
For £10, the walk will show you stunning industrial architecture where you’ll learn about its people, including some dramatic and surprising stories, whilst led by a local resident and historian who knows all of its streets, buildings and gennels.
Private walks
Why not book your own private walk around Kelham Island and Neepsend? If you’ve got a ready made group then this may be cheaper and easier to organise. It can also be customised depending on your particular interests.
Kelham Island Walks has also organised special walks for universities, conference organisers, history groups and community organisations. Or maybe you’d like an introductory talk to your group on the history of the area before a visit. Get in touch with your ideas and we’ll see what can be organised.

This year’s Heritage Open Days will see Kelham Island Walks running two walking tours and offering a chance to see inside recording and music venue Yellow Arch Studios. The tours on offer include not only the regular Kelham Island Walk, but a chance to try out a brand new walking tour around Neepsend.
